About the role
The Family Preservation and Reunification Practitioner (FPR) position is designed to work cooperatively within the Family Services and Maternal and Child Health teams, the wider FYCS and overall GLCH structure to support clients experiencing vulnerabilities in their parenting journey.
The focus of the position is an immediate, intensive and sustained intervention involving collaborative work with Department of Families Fairness & Housing’s (DFFH) Child Protection Unit. The overarching aim of FPR is improving the health and wellbeing of children and their families through extended meaningful engagement with services.
Duties
- Work from a strengths-based approach to assist clients to achieve identified goals for themselves and their children.
- Provide guidance and support to clients and be adaptive and responsive to family needs to address individual issues and stressors.
- Ensure clients are linked with appropriate health care and support services to optimise the wellbeing of themselves and their child/ren.

Skills & Experience
A degree in Social Work or other equivalent qualification and/or experience in Family Services, Family Violence and/or Child Protection.
