About the role:

Bethany is excited to advertise for the role of Family Preservation and Reunification Response Practitioner, based in Warrnambool.  The position is part time (30.4 hours per week), ongoing, reporting to the Team Leader – FPR Response.

The core purpose of this role is to improve outcomes for children and families by providing a rapid, intensive and sustained intervention aimed at preventing at risk children entering or re-entering care. We are looking for someone with strong risk assessment skills and demonstrated knowledge and understanding of trauma-informed practice including an understanding of child development, trauma, grief and loss and attachment theory.   

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide a rapid, intensive, wraparound response to meet the immediate safety and developmental needs of children and support the adult needs of parents.  
  • Work intensively with children, young people and families to support family preservation and reunification in line with the Child Protection case plan. 
  • Provide families with support, advocacy, coaching, skill building and connection to social and economic resources. 
  • Work within the prescribed relational model of connecting and linking families to build safety, empower, and create meaningful opportunities that build upon their strengths utilising a range of evidenced informed intervention strategies including the Practice Modules. 

About you:

  • A tertiary qualification in social work, psychology, behavioural sciences or equivalent
  • Understanding of Child and Family Services, the Child Protection system, relevant legislation, and court orders 
  • An understanding of evidence informed risk and needs assessments with families and managing risk 
  • An understanding of trauma and family violence and its impacts on children and families
  • Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal, advanced written and oral communication skills
