About the job… 

The reunification Practitioner (Practitioner) conducts assessments with DCP to determine the readiness and suitability of families for reunification. In collaboration with families and DCP the practitioner develops and implement reunification plans, taking into consideration the unique cultural and emotional needs of the families. You provide, guidance, and support to families going through the Youth Courts, and Reunification Court (6 to 8 weekly). You provide strong advocacy for the rights and well-being of Indigenous children and families. The Practitioner monitors and evaluates the progress of families during (approx. 12 months) and after the reunification process (approx. 3 to 6 months). 

About you…

You have at least 2 years’ work experience and understanding of child protection sector preferably in reunification. You have strong interpersonal skills and ability to build partnerships with Aboriginal families, government departments, non-government organisation, and Aboriginal communities. You demonstrate ability and willingness to provide evidence in the Youth Courts, and Reunification Court. You are culturally sensitive, empathetic, and non-judgmental. You respect cultural diversity, are strength based and provide support within a therapeutic, trauma informed framework. The Practitioner provides written case notes and reports in a timely manner to a high professional standard.

About the pay…

  • Position is classified under the SCHADS award as a Level 4.2 to 5.1
  • The position is full time for 12 months.

Other requirements…

  • You must hold a current South Australian Drivers Licence 
  • Successful candidates will be required to clear and maintain probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check (Police Clearance), Working with Vulnerable People Check and Working with Children Check (applicants MUST hold a current WWCC to apply).
