The Oak Program is a diversionary and intervention pilot program funded by WA Police to directly address family and domestic violence in the Albany region. Young perpetrators aged between 14-20 will be the focus of the program, with the aim to break the cycle of gender based family and domestic violence by changing the social, emotional, and psychological determinants of family violence, before abusive and violent behaviours become entrenched.  

Delivered in partnership with Albany Youth Support Association, this is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals experiencing family and domestic violence.

In this role, you’ll provide safety assessment, safety planning and support to victim survivors of family violence who are: parents/carers or partners of a young person receiving services from the Oak Program.

This is a part time (0.9 FTE), maximum term position until June 2026.

About You

You will have:

  • Diploma of Counselling or Community Services, or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting individuals and families, preferably in respect to family and domestic violence and/or trauma
  • Demonstrated experience in family violence safety assessment and planning
  • Demonstrated ability to work with young people 
  • Experience working in culturally safe and responsive ways with clients from Aboriginal and other diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication
  • Knowledge of victim survivor and perpetrator issues in Family and Domestic Violence
  • Knowledge of current theory, practice and issues related to family and domestic violence and trauma and impact on families
  • Ability to articulate and reflect upon personal and professional values and practice 

You must possess a current National Police Clearance valid within one year, ability to obtain a WA Working with Children Check, and a WA Drivers Licence.

  • Starting salary is $80,963 p/a (pro rata) plus 11% super
