Family Violence Counselling Caseworker (Full Time Fixed Term 3 years) will be part of The Counselling & Casework Program that offers individuals and their families on low income and living in the City of Yarra with short to medium term generalist counselling, casework support, group work programs and events. You will provide specialist family violence and generalist counselling and casework support to individuals and their families.
Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide specialist family violence counselling and casework support to people experiencing and recovering from family violence.
- Lead the design and delivery of group work programs based on community needs and funding requirements e.g Family Violence, Mental Health Self Help, Self-care, etc.
- Provide several “duty social” appointments per week for clients with one-off and short-term needs.
- Deliver comprehensive client assessment and develop a goal-oriented case plan, using evidence-based techniques and interventions.
- Provide clients with targeted casework including advocacy, facilitating referrals and access to relevant supports, case conferencing and case co-ordination using a strengths-based practice model.
- Build and maintain professional networks and relationships with other service providers.
Key Selection Criteria
Essential:
- Minimum 5 years counselling experience: conducting comprehensive psychosocial assessments, developing case plans and providing advocacy and casework support.
- Skills in designing and delivering therapeutic group work programs.
- Experience in family violence counselling and understanding of relevant legislation including MARAM, Family Violence and Child Safety Information Sharing Schemes.
- Demonstrated understanding of a range of complex client issues.
Desirable:
- A community language will be highly regarded.
- Experience working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
