About The Company
Our client is a specialist family violence service located in Melbourne’s Southern Region. They provide crisis accommodation, temporary housing services and outreach services to women and women with children experiencing family/domestic violence. They also offer a variety of therapeutic services and programs to women and children in the community.
About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking a Family Violence Counsellor / Art Therapist to join their organisation in the City of Kingston, VIC. This is an exciting opportunity to join a specialist family violence service provider and to grow and develop a much-needed and highly valued therapeutic program.
Reporting to the Therapeutic Services Manager, key responsibilities of the role would include:
- Delivering individual therapy to women to support their recovery from family violence.
- Working with mothers/caregivers to support them with their parenting.
- Development and facilitation of strengths-based, trauma-informed therapeutic groups for women who have experienced family violence.
- The possibility to deliver dyadic therapy to Mum’s/Caregivers and children to support their recovery from family violence and strengthen their attachment.
- Working across two main settings including head office and refuge.
- Working collaboratively within a small team of therapists
About You
The successful candidate will have:
Essential Experience:
- Experience working therapeutically with women who have experienced family violence
- Experience in developing and facilitating therapeutic groups
- Strong understanding of trauma and attachment
- Training and experience in art therapy or creative approaches to therapy
- Excellent communication/ interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively
- Strong computer literacy with the ability to use MS Office Suite
- Ability to self-motivate and self-manage while working in a dynamic environment
Essential Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualification in Arts Therapy, Social Work, Counselling or Psychology
- Recent National Criminal History check;
- Victorian Employee Working with Children Check
- Current Victorian Driver’s License
