Your role:
Anglicare in partnership with VACCA in delivering the A Better Way (ABW) Program. ABW is a community based program that works directly with Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal fathers, who use intimate partner violence. ABW offers fathers with a flexible and individualised tailored treatment approach that addresses their family violence behaviours that are seen as a “Parenting Choice”.
ABW is a trauma-informed program that applies Safe & Together ™ practices and has adopted cultural healing approaches specifically designed for Aboriginal fathers and families
The skills you will use day to day:
- Work trauma informed
- Provide tailored approaches to help fathers develop positive parenting relationships
- Engage with fathers who choose to use violence
- Conduct risk and needs assessments using relevant and contemporary frameworks, theory, and practice models
- Therapeutic counselling
- Perpetrator mapping
- An understanding of intergenerational trauma
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities would be highly regarded
