The Salvation Army Australia’s Family Violence Stream provides a wide range of services around the country to support women and women with children impacted by family and domestic violence. We offer refuge, children’s and parenting services, counselling, support, men’s programs, accommodation and advice to women and children who are experiencing, or who have experienced, family violence.

About the role

We are seeking a values-driven Support Worker who will be aiding families in crisis to implement client led case plans that promote the best interests of children, ensure their safety and appropriate development working closely with and referring complex matters to Specialist FV Practitioners or other specialists and Team Leaders.

You will successfully

  • Clients accessing the service are provided with a welcoming and responsive initial contact and urgent and immediate needs are addressed
  • In consultation with more senior worker/s appropriate preventative action is taken in relation to potential high risk situations.
  • Information is provided to assist in assessing and addressing client issues, needs and circumstances.
  • Effective relationships are established with clients that encourage self-determination and participation and support them to improve their situation.
  • Clients are actively encouraged to engage in the implementation of case plans.

You will have

  • Certificate IV qualification in social work, welfare, community development or related field OR demonstrated equivalent knowledge and skills attained through previous appointments, service and study/development
  • Relevant experience in a social service environment [preferably in the FV sector]
  • Relevant state Working with Children Check is required

This is a part-time(19hrs per week), permanent position located in Mackay, QLD. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and disability Services Level 4 Award.
