WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS
The Salvation Army Australia’s Family Violence Stream provides a wide range of Specialist Family Violence Services around the country to support women and women with children impacted by family and domestic violence, modern slavery, trafficking and forced marriage. We offer refuge, children’s and parenting services, counselling, support, men’s programs, accommodation, group work and advice to women and children who are experiencing, or who have experienced family violence, modern slavery, trafficking and forced marriage.
THE LEADERSHIP YOU WILL BRING
You will be responsible for the operational leadership of family violence refuge accommodation and associated programs/ services to support the journey to recovery for victim survivors experiencing or escaping family violence presenting in Karratha.
Your role will be instrumental in providing operational leadership; incorporating knowledge and understanding of internal practices, policies, and guidelines, including Specialist family violence case management, outreach and afterhours response services ensuring child focused, strength based and trauma informed service practices.
This is a full-time max-term position until July 2023 based in Karratha.
THE ROLE YOU COULD PLAY
- Family Violence service management including oversight over a range of internal practices, policies and guidelines, incl. case management and outreach services
- Provide high level professional leadership to the workforce and observe best practice management standards as required of The Salvation Army at all level in service provision
- Programmatic management including oversight of quality and compliance to ensure accreditation standards are met
- Provide advocacy to support the needs of people seeking services from The Salvation Army and best practice service delivery; including sourcing and attracting grants and tenders to enhance service provision
- Build and maintain relationships with Departmental representatives and community sector partnerships ensuring that where appropriate formal agreements exist and that representation at meetings is robust and cooperative
- Deliver an effective high-quality family violence service with ability to demonstrate that interventions make a difference to the lives of women and children post family violence
- Provide Line management and supervision of Family Violence case workers
- Reflective practices are implemented for the team and contribute to improved outcomes for clients
- Develop the capability of the team through coaching and training
- Monitor and contribute to the health, safety and wellbeing of the team
- Recruitment of staff in conjunction with Family Violence State Manager
- Performance or conduct issues are addressed with assistance from the Family Violence State Manager as required
The Salvation Army is subject to public health orders. You may be required to provide evidence of vaccine status dependent on requirements.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
- Degree qualification in Social Work or related field and demonstrated experience
- Experience in the family violence sector and managing or coordinating residential care settings
- Experience in managing and overseeing case management and outreach support services
- Well-developed liaison and communication skills, including the ability to consult and negotiate with relevant agencies in the service sector and the public
- Demonstrated experience in effectively dealing with the impact of trauma
- A valid Employee Working with Children Check
- Current First Aid Certificate with CPR
- A WA Drivers Licence
- A willingness to undergo a National Police Check
