FaPMI Community Development Worker
- Part Time position – 56 hours per fortnight
- Support children and young people up to 25 years of age

The FaPMI CYP Worker Position will contribute to the provision of a whole of family approach to service delivery. The FAPMI CYP will have a particular focus on supporting children and young people up to 25 years of age who are impacted by or provide care in relation to the mental illness of their parent or other family member.
Inner West Area Mental Health -RMH is a team committed to working with all stakeholders to ensure effective and efficient delivery of support services to all Clinical Units across the Mental Health Program. IWAMHS team enjoys a collaborative working environment with all stakeholders having access to internal resources to enhance and provide expertise across the many service disciplines.
Your new role:
In collaboration with relevant service providers, identifying support needs and options for children, young people and young carers to:
- Strengthen their existing support network within their family context, where safe and appropriate to do so
- Providing practical support, information, and connection to children and young people, including referral to appropriate peer support programs
- Supporting children, young people and their families to access financial assistance in liaison with the FaPMI coordinator, through the FaPMI brokerage fund
- Promoting awareness of young carer supports to service providers, including through developing relationships with local schools and other youth focussed organisations
- Developing pathways to supports for children and young people
- Co-facilitation of peer groups for children and young people
- Facilitating access to transport for young people, where appropriate
About you:
- Demonstrated experience working with children, young people and families
- Demonstrated experience working with complex communities and community settings
- Demonstrated experience working within a mental health related setting.
- Experience of working in collaboration with other teams and services
