BDAC is an ACCO (Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation) registered as a member under the umbrella of VACCHO (Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation) and represented nationally through NACCHO (National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation).
BDAC was founded to represent and provide services to the Dja Dja Wurrung Community (Jaara people) and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander residents living on Dja Dja Wurrung Country.
BDAC has a responsibility to ensure growth of services, development of our Aboriginal community, better and improved health outcomes for our people, improved quality of life and be a lead agency in providing employment and career pathways for Aboriginal people.
The Position
The Social & Emotional Wellbeing Worker is responsible for providing confidential education and support to individuals, families and the community affected by Mental Illness and for promoting healthy lifestyles, healthy choices and preventative measures.
This position is also responsible for assisting in the development and delivery of an appropriate range of wellbeing services.

Some of the Key Responsibilities
- Provide support to individuals and families affected by mental illness
- Complete a care plan for the client, stipulating the support services linked in and goals set for the family
- Advocate and support clients accessing mainstream Wellbeing services
- Work with the Wellbeing Manager and team to identify clients who fall through the service gaps and are hardest to engage
- Support promotion of the clinic to community and engagement by community and their support networks
- Develop, facilitate, and support wellbeing promotion and education opportunities for community
- Develop resource kits for carers, individuals, and families
- Conduct case conferencing when required with other agencies
About You
- Knowledge of the causes and effects of mental illnesses on individuals, families, and communities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively and efficiently plan and organise own workload
- Experience in the Mental Health sector and sound knowledge of the relevant legislation, policies, and procedures
- Proven experience in a health setting
- Ability to manage stressful situations
- Proven ability to work independently and in a team
- Demonstrated negotiation and advocacy skills,
- Understanding of crisis management and the ability to deal with life threatening situation including the prevention of suicide
Preferred Education, Training and/or Competencies
- Formal qualification in Mental Health or Equivalent (Cert III Minimum)
- Certificate in Aboriginal Mental Health First Aid
- Experience working in the mental health sector
- Experience working with Indigenous clients
