Financial Case Worker
Cooktown District Community Centre (CDCC) is a not-for-profit organisation providing community services and supports to Cooktown, Hopevale, Wujal Wujal and Laura including Financial Support, Parenting & Family Support, Family Support, Youth Engagement, Youth Alcohol and other drugs (AOD), Domestic & Family Violence Support, 60’s and Better and Intensive Playgroup.

Generous salary packaging applies, you can salary package up to $15,900 each Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT) year for general living expenses. The position offers level 5 pay point under the Social & Community Services Award, full time equivalent $44.92 per hour (dependant on experience) and 10.5% superannuation, plus salary packaging.
The Financial Case Worker position is responsible for providing casework and support services to community individuals who request material assistance and emergency relief, and to those who would benefit from more specialised assistance.
Importantly: The Community Financial Case Worker will work closely with the Salvation Army Doorways program and will receive training and support in this program and function.
The Community Financial Case Worker will provide support and practical assistance to assist clients to find more sustainable solutions and maximise their opportunities to move towards self-sufficiency. The role will conduct comprehensive assessments, determines appropriate practical supports, develop case plans in partnership with clients, helps clients put case plans into action, and helps clients connect with services.
Financial Case Work across our region is incredibly important, providing people in remote communities with:
- Provide a high level of support and practical assistance to help individuals with emergency relief
- Provide support to assist individuals find more sustainable solutions and maximize their opportunities to move towards self sufficiency
- Conduct assessments, determine support, develop case plans in partnership with clients and support in execution of those case plans
- Provide client assistance through the TSA Doorways model including implementation and delivery of services
- Undertake needs assessment analysis for new participants to determine the services and referrals needed
- Assist and support existing community education strategies
- Assist in the application process for individuals in the No Interest Loan Scheme
We are looking for someone who can support clients across the Cooktown, Wujal Wujal, Hopevale and Laura regions working directly with Indigenous and Non-Indigenous clients, to be successful in this role you with need to demonstrate the following selection criteria:
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction as well as collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
- High level organisational skills including the ability to be flexible, set priorities, manage time efficiently, sound problem solving skills and the ability to use word processing, email and the Internet.
- Current “Working with Children & Young People” Blue Card
This is a funded, fixed term position through to 30th June 2023.
