Are you an experienced Financial Counsellor looking to be part of a supportive, multi-disciplined team? 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Financial Counsellor to be part of a new service delivery model. You will be part of our Financial Hub, working alongside other Financial Counsellors and Financial Capability Workers and across our broad range of programs and services. 

YFS is a place-based service working alongside people to help them overcome adversity and build independence. We support individuals and families through a range of programs including domestic and family violence, legal, family support and employment mentoring.  

This role is a permanent 4 days a week role with salary sacrificing available. There are opportunities for some flexibility within the role, including working from home one day a week.

Role location: Slacks Creek
Role type: Part time (4 days)  
Pay range: $94,160 – $98,422 per year (pro rata) based on experience, with salary sacrificing available 

In this role you will be part of a supportive team of Financial Counsellors and Financial Capability Workers with access to experts for advice and guidance across a range of disciplines.

You will:

  • provide financial counselling services face to face and on the phone to people experiencing personal financial difficulties
  • champion integration across YFS financial counselling and financial capability work
  • collaborate with other internal YFS teams and external stakeholders to help meet the needs of clients and facilitate real change
  • develop strong relationships with local community and use local supports, services and networks for referral and advice pathways  
  • assist people from diverse back grounds with complex needs
  • provide a service with a trauma informed lens, aligned with the YFS values of excellence, integrity, optimism, steadfastness, and courage
  • provide referral pathways for individual needs as they are identified 
  • maintain accurate client records using the client record management
  • deliver community education activities and content as needed
  • work one day a week at a community hub in Yarrabilba to meet the needs of the local community
  • comply with all YFS Policies and Procedures in relation to service delivery, including code of ethical practice and Financial Counselling Australia standards.

  • you are client focused, inclusive and have a collaborative spirit
  • you are an experienced Financial Counsellor with the ability to identify systemic issues affecting those in financial hardship
  • you have strong interpersonal and relationship management skills to build and strengthen partnerships within YFS and with external organisations.

Experience and qualifications as a problem gambling Financial Counsellor will be well regarded.
