The successful applicant will work within a supportive and passionate team at Riverina Medical & Dental Aboriginal Corporation (based in Wagga Wagga, regional NSW) to deliver these services and to ensure the best culturally appropriate therapeutic outcomes for Aboriginal children, young people and their families.

The Role

The Foster Carer Recruitment & Support Practitioner will work closely with other members of the Foster Care team to recruit and retain high quality placements for the children and young people in the care of RivMed. The Foster Carer Recruitment & Support Practitioner will provide carers with the required training and support to ensure they have all the necessary skills and support to undertake their role as a carer.  The successful candidate will need to be available to work outside of office hours from time-to-time.

RivMed work to effect change in the most marginalised and vulnerable people in our community. We work to achieve this through the provision of culturally appropriate medical and well-being services for Aboriginal people and their families.

About You

This is not an Aboriginal identified role however Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.

  1. Minimum qualification is a Diploma in Community Services / counselling or related field; or equivalent relevant experience working with vulnerable children, young people and their families.
  2. Experience in case management working with Aboriginal Children & Families & Young People or, Relevant experience working with children and young people
  3. A knowledge of and commitment to the OCG Standards of Care for Children & Young People in the OOHC PSP
  4. Exceptional Interpersonal communication skills
  5. Demonstrated knowledge of data systems and entry.

It would be awesome if you also had some or all of the following

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Skills or experience in recruitment and/or marketing
  • Certificate IV in training and assessment
  • An understanding of issues facing foster & kinship carers in providing care to Aboriginal children and young people
