This is an unique opportunity for an experienced professional. As one of the first organisations providing Home Stretch in Western Australia, you will play an important role in establishing a better service system for young people transitioning from Out-Of-Home Care to interdependence. 

 

Marra Worra Worra Aboriginal Corporation is the largest and oldest resource agency delivering services to people and communities across the broader Fitzroy Valley area of the Kimberley Region of Western Australia. The primary aim of Marra Worra Worra is to work with Bunuba, Gooniyandi, Wangkatjungka, Walmajarri and Nyikina groups in the Fitzroy Valley to strengthen culture, support community and create sustainable employment solutions. 

We are seeking an experienced and skilled person with a significant background in the child, youth and family sector. Your approach will be trauma informed, strength based, person centred and culturally secure. You will ensure the right to self-determination drives your practice, while promoting the wellbeing of young people. 

About the Role 

As a Home Stretch Transition Coach for Marra Worra Worra Aboriginal Corporation, you will provide 1:1 professional support, guidance, and case coordination to young people transitioning from Out-of-Home Care, offering them an extension of support and resources to the age of 21 years. This service delivery will be on an outreach basis so an ability to work flexibly is essential.

This will include:

  • Developing a young persons’ natural networks and assisting them to build and maintain connection to culture, country, family and community supports
  • Offering and brokering access to a safety net of financial support and resources through the Home Stretch WA service offer
  • Providing tailored support services using a culturally safe and strengths-based approach and case coordination that is consistent with the Home Stretch WA Transition Coach Practice Principles
  • Work collaboratively with relevant stakeholders including the Department of Communities’ Child Protection staff, foster families, carers, the young person’s kin, community and people identified as significant in their lives

Essential

  • A Bachelor or Diploma qualification in a relevant field. However unqualified applicants with demonstrated significant relevant experience (minimum of 5 years) and skills working with young people with experiences of Out-Of-Home Care, will be considered. 
  • Current WA Drivers Licence. 
  • WWCC, National Police Clearance and Department of Communities Departmental Check.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and the ability to work with Aboriginal young people, families and communities.
  • Demonstrated experience in engaging and building strong relationships with and motivate ‘at risk’ Aboriginal young people.

 Remuneration 

An attractive salary which reflects the skills and abilities sought will be negotiated with the successful applicant. Assistance with relocation to Fitzroy Crossing if required. In addition, the role be afforded a range of benefits including subsidised accommodation, PBI salary packaging, and some private use of a fully maintained vehicle.
