  • Salary up to $98,276 pro rata plus 11% Super (Base Salary Range $94,014-$98,276 pro rata)

OUR OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a counsellor, psychologist or social worker with appropriate qualifications who can work therapeutically with clients who present with trauma, addiction and other mental health issues that co-present with gambling harm. Training is provided to help grow your current skillset to best support clients experiencing gambling harm

Our next Gamblers Help Therapeutic Counsellor will join a multi-disciplined team of financial counsellors, gamblers help therapeutic counsellors and community engagement workers to raise awareness of, and commitment to minimising gambling harm. Therapeutic counselling assists individuals, families and affected others to manage gambling-related harms and related issues; assists individuals to reduce or stabilise gambling behaviours; support individuals to maintain positive behaviour change post-counselling.

This role will suit motivated applicants who are open to learning new approaches and desire to work within a supportive and collaborative team working towards achieving the best outcome for their clients.

No two days will be the same, this challenging but rewarding role will enable the successful candidate to give back to the community by providing this essential service to our clients.

Our successful candidate will be counsellor, psychologist or social worker with appropriate qualifications who can work therapeutically with clients who present with trauma, addiction and other mental health issues that co-present with gambling harm

QUALIFICATIONS

Must hold relevant tertiary qualifications in social work, counsellor, psychology or related discipline and be eligible for membership/registration with one of the following:

  • Provisional registration with the Psychology Board of Australia, or
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) in the National Board category of Psychology Board of Australia
  • Full, graduate or Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (AMHSW) membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), or
  • Membership with Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) in the Clinical, Academic or Provisional categories
