your opportunity
yourtown’s Mind 4 Kids Program provides psychological therapies for children aged to 11 years with moderate mental health issues, to improve their health, resilience and wellbeing.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a reputable service that has a range of programs in the child and family space and is well connected with the community. You will have the opportunity to collaborate and attend cross-service training with other co-located services including Glugor Young Parents Program, Starfish Family Mental Health Program, Communities for Children and Expressive Therapies.
The program is delivered within a stepped care approach and works in an integrated and collaborative manner with wraparound supports provided. It is provided on site and via outreach e.g. in schools.
We are seeking a General or Provisional Psychologist or Accredited Mental Health Social Worker to support children and their families by providing a single entry point into mental health care, wraparound supports and psychological interventions. Care coordination will also be undertaken to enhance positive child and family outcomes.
You will have a manageable caseload of 4-5 sessions per day and line supervision and onsite support from the senior leadership team. You will be working with engaged families and children who are also supported in home and community settings by our psychosocial support team.
In conjunction with internal practice supervision delivered by a dedicated site supervisor, you will also be supported to attend external supervision to meet your registration requirements, paid for by yourtown!
what we are looking for
We are seeking a passionate, professional clinician who wants to make a difference by servicing a cohort whose access to psychological support may be limited by financial hardship or other barriers.
You will bring:
• qualifications and relevant registration as a Psychologist (General or Provisional) with AHPRA, or Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with AHPRA or AASW
• passion for supporting children 0-11 years to improve their mental health and wellbeing
• experience providing evidence-based, age-appropriate psychological therapies for children and their families
• demonstrated experience in conducting biopsychosocial assessments that consider a child’s development, parent-child attachment and sensory needs
• an understanding of child behaviour with experience conducting functional behaviour assessments (desirable)
This is a maximum term position until 30 June 2023, with potential for extension.
