JOB DESCRIPTION

About the role:

The role will support the Medical, Nursing and Allied Health teams to assess, plan and support safe discharge for patients within Maitland Hospital.  In a multidisciplinary team provide high quality care and experiences that matter to patients, families and carers. Attending regular multidisciplinary meeting, Social Work and Sector Meeting to network, collaborate with fellow staff.  Engage in regular supervision and line management rounding for ongoing professional development, attend training that supports development in your work area and engage in Mandatory Training.
Our successful applicate will be supported during an initial orientation period, access to their line management and other senior staff.  Regular supervision and line management reviews reflective of their experience and skill level.
 

Where you’ll be working:
 

  • This is a newly appointed position to compliment the continually growing Maitland Hospital, the role is currently 2days/week with opportunities to additional causal days for those interested applicants. 
  • Covering a variety of wards including Surgical, Orthopaedics and Medical our successful candidate will be working with diverse patient groups including but not limited to NDIS, aged care, chronic health conditions and complex medical and psychosocial needs.

Maitland is well connected by road, rail and air, is located less than two hours north of Sydney, only 15 minutes from Hunter Valley Wine Country and 30 minutes from Newcastle and its pristine world renowned coastline and beaches.

Requirements:

  • Must hold as a minimum a bachelor degree in social work which provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer
  • Current unrestricted driver’s licence
