Genetic Counsellor/Associate Genetic Counsellor
- Provide genetic counselling to those with a personal/familial history of cancer and other adult genetic conditions
- Coordinate familial cancer and adult genetics clinics

The Genomic Medicine centre is a comprehensive genetic service providing diagnosis, counselling and support to adults with a variety of genetic disorders Our services ensure that heritable factors are considered at every point of a patient’s journey and take the opportunity to identify other family members at risk, making risk management strategies available. The Centre is also a hub for clinical and translational research projects
Your new role
- We are looking for a passionate and dedicated individual to join our Genomic Medicine team on a Fixed-Term basis based at The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH), Parkville
- The Genetic Counsellor will work closely with clinicians, other genetic counsellors and associate genetic counsellors to provide clinical genetic counselling services to patients and their families.
- Interpreting and explaining the results of genetic analysis
- Process and manage new referrals, clinical follow up and files reviews within set key performance indicators.
- Gather family history information and set cancer verification plan by telephone
- Participate in the collection of medical, genetic, family history information as necessary.
About you
- Board eligibility in genetic counselling
- An understanding of the current genetic and psychosocial issues relating to familial cancer and adult genetics
- Demonstrate competency in managing complex work load with high level of accuracy.
