About You
- You have Extensive clinical experience and specialist knowledge in mental health and working systemically with young children who have challenging behaviours, their families and their system of care and support, including individual, group and parent focused clinical services.
- You have demonstrated ability to conduct mental health assessment and treatment of children and their families and group work skills of planning, implementation and evaluation.
- Minimum Tertiary Bachelor Degree in Psychology, Occupational Therapy with AHPRA registration or Social Work with AASW membership or Counselling or Community Welfare, with three years post graduate experience in mental health; OR Master’s Degree Clinical Psychology with endorsement to practice as a Clinical Psychologist with AHPRA OR Tertiary Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (Inc. Div. 1 AHPRA registration) with relevant post grad qualifications and demonstrated experience working in the clinical area of their post grad study.
What you’ll be doing
The purpose of this position is to work with children, parents, carers and school staff with the aim of preventing mental illness and behavioural disorders in later life and improving educational outcomes for Children in Kindergarten to Year 2. The program will work with children, parents, carers and school staff.
CAMHS GOT IT! will provide opportunities for partnering with local services. In particular, Family Referral Services will assist in providing linkages with appropriate CMOs and family support services, including CMO partners in Brighter Futures.
CAMHS GOT IT! is a whole school approach which supports:
- CAMHS Service – Increased community capacity to provide early intervention
- School staff – Universal program-related training and intervention-specific guidance for primary school staff.
- Parents – Multi-level evidence based parenting interventions. These will include universal, group and individual parenting programs for parents of indicated children and will complement existing parenting programs
- Children – Universal screening, targeted assessment and group treatment for indicated children in the primary school setting
- Families – Streamlined referral for identified child and family needs.
