The Neighbourhood Hub is the leading locally based neighbourhood centre and has been delivering services to the Mackay region for over thirty (30) years.

About the Program 

The Program is an early intervention service for families with children and young people under the age of 18 years living in the Mackay community. 

With the support of trained volunteers, the Program provides a family support response to families that are experiencing stress.

The broad aim of the Program is to assist families to become more confident in their parenting role as well as providing assistance in establishing strong connections to other parents and local community networks. 

Practical support may also be provided in such areas as referral, advocacy, and information services.

About the role 

The successful applicant will 

  • coordinate, implement and evaluate the Program’s funding agreement as well as delivering the day-to-day activities of the Program 
  • respond to referrals in a timely manner and provide families with information to other local support services where needed 
  • build positive relationships with families and establish, implement, and review case management plans 
  • meet the reporting requirements of the funding body and organisation 
  • work alongside the Volunteer Placement Coordinator to recruit, attract and retain Program volunteers 
  • match and connect inducted organisational volunteers with families 
  • the ability to engage with individuals from a range of diverse backgrounds in a welcoming and respectful manner is paramount to be successful in this role
  • engage with and build relationships with community stakeholders and attend network meetings
  • display excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills, as well as organisational and Microsoft office skills.

This role is part time, 30 hours per week/fixed term contract position to 30 June 2024 with possible extension.  

The successful person will ideally have qualifications in Social Sciences, Human Services or similar and/or extensive demonstrated experience in providing support to people who are vulnerable and/or at risk.
