This role is part of the 2023 Family Violence and Sexual Assault Graduate Program. The Program provides a dedicated pathway for new and recent graduates into the family violence, sexual assault and primary prevention sectors and supports graduates to gain practical skills and knowledge while also receiving additional learning and development support.

In addition to state-wide learning and networking opportunities, graduates are supported by a dedicated Learning and Development Facilitator and have access to learning and development opportunities with other graduates throughout the year. This includes an induction session at the commencement of the Program and monthly community of practice sessions. Graduate’s agencies also have access to a funding allocation to support ongoing learning and development needs over the course of the Program.

If you are relocating for the Program, you may also be eligible for a $1,500 contribution towards costs associated with your relocation.

To meet the eligibility requirements for the 2023 Family Violence and Sexual Assault Graduate Program, graduates must have completed all course requirements (or will do so before commencing in the Program) or have completed their qualifications within the last two years.

Why this role matters

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Parenting Support Practitioner to Undertake community development activities which support efforts to build safe and inclusive communities where families want to raise their children

This role will:

  • Facilitate manualised evidence-based group parenting education programs (for example, Tuning in to Kids, Bringing up Great Kids)
  • Develop and facilitate evidence-based group parenting education workshops which meet community needs
  • Provide tailored parenting support through the delivery of evidence- and strength-based one-on-one parenting support sessions which are focused on the development of healthy, positive parent-child interactions

This is a maximum full-time position (however full time can be negotiable) to 31 December 2023. This position is based in Melton and/or Sunshine however you will provide innovative parenting support to families in Melbourne’s Western growth corridors.

Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award, Level 6.

What we’re looking for

  • Masters or Bachelor of Social Work (or similar)
  • Training and/or experience in family violence ideal
  • A current VIC Drivers Licence
  • Valid VIC Employee Working with Children Check
  • Ability to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia

The Salvation Army is subject to public health orders. You will be required to provide evidence of vaccine status dependent on requirements.
