Monash Health’s Mental Health Program is excited to announce new graduate Social Worker positions.

About our Mental Health Graduate Program at Monash Health:

Monash Health is the largest public health service in Victoria, employing more than 20,000 people who work across 40 locations delivering healthcare services through our five hospitals and our extensive network of rehabilitation, aged care, community health and mental health facilities. 

The Mental Health Program serves consumers their carers and families across the South Eastern metropolitan region with bed-based, community and rehabilitation programs.

About The Role:

We are excited to announce we are seeking applications for the Graduate Social Worker program within the Mental Health Program. 

The positions are full-time for 12 months and incorporate two rotations to build your skills in delivering Social Work services in mental health. Graduates will have opportunity to learn in child, youth, adult and aged settings. An established training package will support graduates’ learning progression and skills will be further developed through supervision, mentorship and a dedicated Social Work Clinical Educator.

What the AH MH NG Program Offers: 

  • 12-month Graduate position with 6 monthly rotations (in area of ‘Aged’, ‘Adult’, ‘Child and Youth’ Mental Health in both community and inpatient settings).   
  • One full day of protected learning time a week, comprising of a combination of self-directed learning and facilitated learning activities.
  • Minimum of 4 hours of discipline specific clinical educator contact per week to support with applying learning in practice.
  • Multiple supervision spaces, including 1:1 clinical supervision, peer group supervision and multi-disciplinary group supervision.
  • Mentoring/buddy support. 
  • Professional Development led by Monash Health Allied Health Educators, with links to organisations and resources including Centre for Mental Health Learning (CMHL), MHPOD and other additional opportunities relevant to your interests and needs.
  • Opportunity for discovery days at different programs to explore area of interest for your ongoing carer
  • Supported transition to your next role following the completion of your Graduate program.
  • Program commencement is February 2023.

About You:

You have an authentic desire to improve the lives of people with mental health difficulties. You are an early carer Social worker with less than two years professional experience.  You are a keen and curious learner, truly passionate about delivering a high standard of evidence based care to all consumers, carers and families. You are a team player who seeks opportunities to collaborate and learn from consumers, carers and families, the lived experience and clinical workforce. You seek a career with meaning and purpose and to grow as a health professional.

  • Approved Social Work qualification
  • Eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers
  • Australian working rights
  • Genuine interest in beginning and develop your Social Work career in mental health care
