About the role
Part-time position – 25 hours per week – $39.26 per hour
In this role you will work within QuIHN’s Harm Reduction Program area to provide a range of activities, including:
Prevention and Testing Program
Assist the Harm Reduction Coordinator in the day to day facilitation of the Needle and Syringe Program:
- Provide access to the full range of sterile injecting equipment and STI prevention equipment
- Engage service users on a range of harm minimisation related topics including the provision of brief interventions, non-clinical counselling, referrals, and providing up-to-date education on relevant issues
Treatment & Management Program
Assist the Harm Reduction Coordinator in the facilitation of a comprehensive Treatment and Management Program:
- Perform a case worker role in the Treatment and Management program; including intake, case planning, treatment support and referral of clients as required
- Assist in the development and maintenance of partnership activities, at the regional level, with other healthcare providers to expand access to hepatitis vaccination, testing and treatment
What we’re looking for
Someone who is passionate about their work and the health outcomes of both clients and the broader community and can demonstrate:
- Tertiary qualifications in community service work or a related specialised field and/or equivalent experience in the field
- Understanding of and commitment to harm minimisation approach, including knowledge of the range of health and welfare issues affecting PWID
- Understanding of case management approach
- Demonstrate empathy to engage with client group
- Current Queensland driver’s licence (or equivalent)
- Ability to achieve a successful national police check
- A first aid qualification is highly desirable
- As per Workers in a healthcare setting (COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements) Direction, employees at QuIHN must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19
