Men & Co. The Roles – HARNESS Program Facilitator 

The HARNESS Project Facilitator plays an important role in working with the Men & Co Team Leader and is an integral part of the growing Men & Co. team. The role’s purpose is to achieve the projects mission to deliver an industry and workplace-focused, Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) awareness and prevention program for construction workers. The project centres around awareness as a pilot project addressing DFV and gendered abuse in the construction industry, with critical clinical support offered or referrals to appropriate services as required.   

The HARNESS Project Facilitator will play a fundamental role in the development and implementation of the HARNESS project across south Brisbane to Gold Coast. The HARNESS Facilitator will be responsible for promoting and leading change toward positive and respectful behaviours within the construction industry. This will be affected by forming strategic partnerships, developing a program logic materials and resources, measuring outcomes and effectiveness, completing brief intervention with members of the construction industry that are help-seeking, working within a co-facilitation team to deliver direct client interfacing toolbox sessions and working alongside the team to progress referrals and client interventions. The HARNESS Project Facilitator ensures that DFV best practice and evidence bases are maintained and progressed in the delivery of this project.   

You will work collaboratively with team member members and other agencies and organisations to develop appropriate and innovative service response within the Redlands Community.

About You: 

You will have well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, enabling you to communicate effectively with a broad range of people and be proficient in preparation and management of case notes. You will be able to co-facilitate Toolbox sessions, workshops, trainings and programs in response to the issue of gendered abuse in the construction industry.  

You will be able to create and complete appropriate brief intervention and referral pathways for individuals in the construction industry seeking support following or connected to a Toolbox Talk. 

You will have an extensive understanding of and experience in group work, crisis support, case management within the domestic and family violence women’s sector, with a demonstrated ability to work with various therapeutic frameworks.  

Your demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment, together with a willingness and commitment to provide optimum service delivery will enable you to work collaboratively and effectively with team members, clients, and other organisations within the Logan community.

Selection Criteria: 

  1. Tertiary qualifications in counselling, social work, psychology or in the areas of human services (alongside relevant experience) received from a recognised university, with eligibility for professional association membership.     
  2. Demonstrated experience, skills, developed practice in counselling and facilitating group work with persons using or experiencing violence, and experience in risk assessment, and management practices.     
  3. Demonstrated ability to manage complex and challenging group dynamics, including a demonstrated high-level negotiation skill and experience in conflict resolution as well as working with denial, minimisation and blame.    
  4. Demonstrated experience with building collaborative community relationships to foster referrals and positive connections with external stakeholders, within the construction industry.     
  5. Demonstrated professional verbal and written skills including the ability to consult and liaise, with government departments and community organisations, present at conferences, and deliver workshops and professional development training.     
  6. Demonstrated knowledge of DFV response frameworks, risk assessment and safety frameworks appropriate for domestic and family violence responses and significant experience working in a domestic and family violence sector.    
  7. Proven leadership with a growth mindset, innovative and inclusive leadership styles, demonstrating experience in negotiation, influencing, motivating and supporting team members with the ability to foster effective teamwork.    
  8. Current Queensland Driver’s Licence, Police Check and a working with Children Check/Blue Card
