Head of Counselling Services Ivanhoe Girls’ Grammar School

JOB DESCRIPTION

Ivanhoe Girls’ Grammar School is an Anglican day school strongly committed to single sex education for girls. Catering for students from Early Learning Centre (Three Year Old) to Year 12, Ivanhoe Girls’ Grammar School seeks to provide excellence in education within a caring Christian community and to prepare young women for a personally and professionally fulfilling life.

Reporting to the Deputy Principal/Head of Senior School, the Head of Counselling Services will oversee the Counselling Service for the School and will work with students and families in all year levels, from Early Learning Centre (Three and Four year olds) through to Year 12. The Head of Counselling Services will provide psychological services to students and parents including counselling, pastoral care and testing and assessment of students. In the Senior School, the Head of Counselling Services will work closely with the Director of Student Wellbeing, Year Level Coordinators and Class Tutors to support the pastoral care system of the School. The role may extend to include being a Class Tutor. In addition, the Head of Counselling Services will be proactive in development and delivery of wellbeing programs and initiatives for students and families.

This position requires the incumbent to work full time, during school term time (39 weeks per year), with flexibility to attend Staff Days, Staff Conferences, Parent Seminars and Celebration Night. The role will commence Wednesday 24 January 2024.

The successful applicant will have qualifications and registration as a Child or Adolescent Psychologist and experience working with and sound understanding of the needs of girls in all levels from Early Learning Centre (Three and Four year olds) through to Year 12. A valid and current Employment Working with Children Check and police check will also be required for this position.
