Headspace – Youth Assessment, Intake and Engagement Worker (Maternity Leave) Ballarat Community Health

Full Time 1.0 EFT, Fixed Term position until 30th October 2023 (Maternity Leave Position)

Searching for a rewarding career engaging with the youth of Ballarat and surrounding regions? Do you have qualifications and experience in Youth Work, Social Welfare, Social Work or other relevant profession? Do you have at least 3 years post graduate clinical experience?

We have a short term maternity leave backfill opportunity at our headspace site for an experienced Youth Assessment, Intake and Engagement Worker. During this tenure you will be responsible for engaging with clients aged between 12-25 entering the headspace service, providing initial intake, clinical assessments and supporting clients to engage with the headspace program.

This includes:

  • Assisting young people with the registration processes
  • Providing brief interventions and short-term support as required including counselling and case management
  • Managing referral pathways and promoting a youth friendly culture
  • You will also develop and facilitate various group programs and workshops in collaboration with other health professionals

About You:

To be successful in this position, you will need to have the following:

  • A tertiary qualification and experience in Youth Work, Social Welfare, Social Work or other relevant profession
  • At least 3 years post graduate clinical experience
  • Relevant intake, assessment and case management experience
  • Well-developed knowledge of young people’s developmental stages, youth mental health issues, drug and alcohol issues and issues currently impacting on young people’s wellbeing
  • Excellent interpersonal and advocacy skills
