We have an exciting opportunity for a Health & Wellness Promoter to join our Residential Team at McCracken Views located just one hour from Adelaide with surf beaches just minutes away!

  • 12 Month Fixed Term Contract – Part Time hours: Mon, Tues & Wed – 9:30am – 3pm.

About the role

As a Health and Wellness Promoter, you will create opportunities for Southern Cross Care residents to participate in physical activity via individual and group exercise programs.

Key responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to;

  • Enabling residents to maximise independence, improve and maintain their health, wellness and quality of life
  • Using best practice, evidence based tools to plan and deliver high quality health & wellness services with the emphasis on person centred care and healthy ageing through goal setting, progressive resistance training, health literacy
  • Working with a multidisciplinary team to develop tailored exercise programs to meet resident goals and quality of life outcomes
  • Engaging in the early intervention process to identify frailty and decline early and intervene early to optimise resident physical function and quality of life
  • Implementing organisational programs across all residential homes
  • Undertaking audits to ensure all residential Health & Wellness programs operate in accordance with Southern Cross Care procedure
  • Ensuring our Health and Wellness Centre has suitable resources for programs and is maintained in a clean and safe manner

About You

We are looking for people who will be the difference in the lives of our residents and clients.

The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Certificate IV or higher in Fitness, Exercise Science, Personal Training, Exercise Physiology or equivalent including current accreditation with Physical Activity Australia, AusActive or Exercise & Sports Science Australia
  • Demonstrated delivery of progressive resistance training programs with older people
  • Sound understanding of healthy ageing and that physical function underpins the ability to remain engaged meaningfully in personally valued pursuits
  • Ability to efficiently analyse information, respond to and advocate on behalf of customer needs
  • Ability to identify best practice fitness program delivery and report to management
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills as well as the ability to maintain positive working relationships with external stakeholders
  • Strong organisational and time management skills 
  • Proficient computer and keyboard skills and the ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and in-house databases)
