About the Role
A fantastic opportunity exists to work for a passionate and friendly organisation that requires experienced Health Coaches to join our service delivery team as a contractor.
The Better Health Company works with health professionals, governments, community health organisations and families to develop, design and deliver evidence-based health programs, training and resources nationally. We deliver free healthy lifestyle programs to a broad spectrum of age-groups, including CALD communities, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and low SES communities.
We require hardworking, dedicated health professionals to support the delivery of our group-based and online programs, with the aim of addressing healthy eating, physical activity and positive behaviour change. Our ideal candidate will be a qualified health professional with demonstrated experience (at least 1 year) delivering health promotion programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivering group-based health programs and services across various venues throughout Perth
- Providing advice and behaviour change support relating to nutrition, physical activity and sedentary behaviours in accordance with national guidelines and the program principles
- General program support tasks including data entry, follow up with families and supporting program registrations
- Delivering phone-based health coaching to families
- Participating in quality assurance assessments and professional development activities
About You
The successful candidates will meet the following essential criteria:
- Tertiary qualifications (minimum Bachelor level) in a relevant health field, preferably nutrition/dietetics, exercise science or exercise physiology, psychology, health promotion, speech pathology, occupational therapy or nursing
- At least 1 year experience in delivering health promotion programs (ideally in a group setting)
- Demonstrated knowledge of behavioural management approaches and the Australian Guide to Healthy Eating
- Ability to quickly build relationships and rapport, particularly with children and adolescents
- Experience as an Aboriginal health worker and/or experience working with Aboriginal communities (highly desirable)
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team
- High level of personal organisation and time management skills
- Excellent computer skills, database management and ability to learn new programs
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Current Working with Children Check, Police Check, First Aid/CPR and COVID-19 vaccination record
- Valid Australian drivers license and reliable transport
Applicants must be available at least 20 hours per week in the afternoons and evenings (between Monday-Thursday).
Work to commence from Monday 29th January 2024 with full training provided prior.
