About your opportunity

Health Practitioner Mental Health Acute Care Team / Permanent Full-time or Permanent Part-time 

The Health Practitioner Mental Health Acute Care will provide triage, assessment and consultation liaison for all consumers referred to the Acute Care Team. The position will be required to work in both community and The Townsville Hospital Emergency Department environments. The position works collaboratively with consumers and multidisciplinary professionals to provide mental health assessment, intervention and consultation, mobile crisis response and case management duties as required in accordance with professional standards and legislation consistent with the 10 Year Mental Health Strategy for Queensland and the National Standards for Mental Health Services in the Mental Health Acute Care Team.

Generous remuneration package value up to $123,756 p.a. comprising:

  • Salary range of $73,796 to $108,466 p.a. [Full-time Equivalent] (HP3)
  • Salary range of $37.21 to $54.70 p.h. [Part-time Equivalent] (HP3)
  • Annual leave with 17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.

The successful candidate will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following

  • Ability to provide triage and assessment of mental health conditions and risk.
  • Ability to provide treatment options based on evidence based practice
  • Provision of care which is patient centred and involves family and carers
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team

Requirements

  • Applications are being sought from candidates with either Occupational Therapy, Psychology or Social Work qualification.
  • Proof of qualification and registration or membership (if applicable) with the appropriate registration authority or association.
  • Must possess a Class C drivers licence
  • Authorised Mental Health Practitioner or the ability to become authorised is desirable
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
  • Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
  • Probation period may apply.
