The Organisation

Our Client provides homelessness services to adult women and young women, aged 18+, and young women who are pregnant or parenting children 4 years and under.

The team provides holistic support via a range of services to help women rebuild their self-worth and make sustainable changes in their lives. They support women to increase their capacity to reach their full potential, sustain tenancies and develop skills through a trauma informed, recovery orientated case management framework.

 

The Role 

We are recruiting for a Recovery Support Worker. This role is Permanent Part Time, working 52 hours per fortnight. Shifts will be rostered as overnight sleepovers, and will generally look like the below:

5pm to 11pm awake, sleepover from 11pm to 7am, 7am to 9am awake.  

Fixed rosters will be arranged upon commencement, however the successful candidate will be required to work one weekend per fortnight. 

The Recovery Support Worker is to provide support and practical assistance to women in Homelessness accommodation; assist their capacity with practical living skills, encourage resilience, assist to implement strategies that enhance personal wellbeing; and assess safety for onsite accommodation.

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Provide responsive support to all clients, in accordance with their individual needs and circumstances
  • Undertake brief interventions using a Trauma Informed and Recovery Oriented Practice framework
  • Support activities or workshops to enhance interpersonal relationships and living skills; provide strategies for coping with recovery and promotes wellbeing
  • Participate in meal planning activities, including weekly shopping; assist with cooking skills
  • Complete intake requirements including referrals, assessments, paperwork and inductions
  • Record, monitor and maintain accurate, current Service User information, and comply with the incident and complaints reporting process

 

To Be Successful

  • Robust understanding of issues impacting single adult women and young parenting women who are at risk of homelessness 
  • Understanding and application of Trauma Informed practice and Recovery Oriented practice 
  • Experience with intervention strategies including resilience and coping for at risk women & children 
  • Capacity to support service users in everyday living skills, mental health and general wellbeing 
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Collaborative and productive; able to build rapport and develop relationships with a wide range of stakeholders 
  • Solutions-focused and self-managing with the ability to work as part of team 
  • Competency with Microsoft Office; capacity to learn and use other software and systems

 

Other requirements

  • Female candidates will only be considered (It is a genuine requirement that this position is filled by a woman as permitted in sections 25, 104 and 105 of the Anti-Discrimination Act, 1991)
  • Minimum of a Diploma in Community Services or similar
  • Current Queensland Driver Licence
  • Current Blue Card (Working with Children)
  • Current National Police Check

 

Salary and Benefits

  • $37.34 per hour – $73,783.84 (pro rata) per annum + 11.5% Super 
  • Street parking available at Toowong location
