iCare Staffing is proud to be partnering with our client to find their newest superstar House Coordinator. Based in Mt Evelyn, reporting to an experienced, supportive, collaborative manager and leading a passionate team, this is a fixed term, full time role ending 30 June 2023. The Opportunity 

This position will lead a team of 8 passionate and dedicated staff, caring for up to 4 young people in a therapeutic residential home. The house has been newly renovated and has a sensory room and the support of a therapeutic specialist. This role will focus on supporting both the young people and the team. Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring that appropriate therapeutic interventions and responses are used to work with all young people in residential care to promote stability, growth and pro-social development
  • Overseeing all case management requirements and ensuring planning for each young person will support post care transition into independent or semi-independent living
  • The development and maintenance of a safe, secure and planned environment which meets the developmental needs of young people 
  • Provide leadership, support and supervision and play a lead role in the creation of a culture that promotes healing from the range of traumatic experiences of the young people and supports team members

About you

You are a therapeutic youth worker, case manager, specialist or manager, with demonstrated experience leading people. You have extensive knowledge and understanding of therapeutic crisis intervention, care and development and highly developed skills in managing the challenging and confronting behaviours that arise from this in a calm and consistent manner. You also have the demonstrated ability to oversee all facets and requirements of the residential program as it relates to community, agency and government expectations and requirements.

To be considered for this role you will need to have:

  • Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention or a relevant tertiary qualification which is recognised under the Residential Care Workforce Training Initiative
  • Current First Aid Certificate, Victorian Drivers Licence, Working with Children Check
  • National Criminal History Check (or be willing to complete one prior to commencement)
  • Knowledge of adolescent and child development and the theories relating to Trauma and Attachment as the aftermath of abuse and neglect and highly developed skills in managing the challenging and at times confronting behaviours that arise from this
  • The ability to provide strong leadership, direction and coaching to residential care staff.
