About the organisation and the role
Huntington’s Australia is a national leader in the delivery of services to support and empower people impacted by Huntington’s Disease (HD) to live their best life. We provide NDIS services, community education, individual and group capability building activities and advocacy at all levels.
As part of the national Community Programs team within the Community Programs & Services function, this role is based in our Perth office, and reports to the Community Programs Team Leader. This role works to provide programs and services directly to people with HD, their families and communities in Western Australia. The role provides education and information to the health sector and other service providers to increase awareness and understanding of HD.
The role is 0.6FTE and is covered by the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award and is classified at Grade 5.
About You
This challenging, part time role will suit an experienced individual with a minimum of a tertiary qualification equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in an allied health discipline, mental health, psychology, social work, with experience in an area directly relevant to health, disability or community services.
- You will have well-developed interpersonal skills, utilising an empathetic approach to establish and maintain supports for individuals impacted by HD.
- Your ability to build trust with clients who may have complex physical, social, and psychological care needs is essential.
- Your high level written, and verbal communication skills will be backed up by the ability to negotiate with, and influence service providers and stakeholders on behalf of participants.
- Good planning and organisational skills will be essential as you work effectively to achieve deadlines and balance priorities.
- Your ability to develop effective working relationships with health and community service providers is essential.
