About the Role
The role of the Immediate Response and Referral Counsellor is to work with incoming callers to provide crisis counselling, information, and referral pathways to ongoing specialist counselling services.
This line will primarily work with people impacted by sexual violence and assault but may offer services to people impacted by other crimes such as homicide.
This is an office-based, part-time position, with shifts scheduled Monday-Friday (including public holidays) 9am-6pm.
What we’re looking for
- A tertiary degree (of minimum 3 years duration) in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, or relevant field.
- Minimum 3 years working in the Sexual Assault support field, counselling or related areas
- Eligible or holds membership with one of the following bodies or profession – AASW, ACA, APS or PACFA would be desirable
- Demonstrated understanding of intersectional feminist practice and how this is used as a framework to understand and respond to the gendered nature of violence against women and children
- Solid IT skills
- High level of resilience and self-care practices in place
