About the job…

We are seeking a full-time In-Home Therapy Assistant to join our friendly team in Townsville until 30 June 2024 with possible extension.

The position works directly with children, families and carers in the Individual Support Services (ISS) Program to embed the therapeutic strategies developed by the Practice Lead and the child’s care team.

Key responsibilities:

Under the guidance of the Practice Supervisor, support children, families, and their support network to achieve better outcomes by:

  • Providing specialist trauma informed, attachment-based coaching and role-modelling to carers and stakeholders.
  • Supporting families to foster secure attachments with their child, develop appropriate routines and boundaries and support emotional regulation.
  • Working collaboratively with all ISS practitioners to ensure parenting strategies and child behaviour support is in line with appropriate child development and parental capacity.
  • Delivering practical intervention with the family as guided by the therapy team.

About you…

  • Tertiary degree in a relevant discipline (social work, human services, allied health).
  • Professional registration (if required) and membership of a relevant professional association (desirable).
  • At least two years’ experience working with children, young people and their families who have been impacted by trauma or have experienced abuse and neglect.
  • Understanding of the impacts of trauma on child development and family functioning.
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-agency and multi-disciplinary team and to cultivate a collaborative strengths-based approach to working with families.
  • Well-developed communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills.

About the pay…

  • Position is classified Level 4 under the SCHCADS award.
  • Salary range is $82,046 – $88,288 plus superannuation.

Other Requirements….

  • Eligibility for a positive Working with Children Check in the applicable state of employment in Australia or exemption based on professional qualifications and registration.
  • Current driver’s licence.
