About the role:
This a newly created standalone role as in-house legal counsel; acting independently to support and assist the DWS Group, while also working in conjunction with our parent company HCLTech’s AU & global legal team on compliance and litigation for Australia & NZ. As a new position, there is scope for the successful person to help shape and define the role within the wider corporate group.

The 3 key areas of importance and focus for the role are;

  • Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB), and Foreign Acquisitions and Takeovers (FATA) compliance
  • General commercial and labour law matters
  • Corporate law, including mergers and acquisitions (M&A)

  
  
Skills, Experience, Qualifications

  • Approximately 10 years PQE / PAE at a reputable corporate law firm or equivalent in-house experience as Senior Legal Counsel, sole in-house corporate legal representative, or similar
  • A degree in law and current Australian Legal Practising Certificate
  • Experience working on FIRB matters, particularly compliance reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and varied tasks
  • A common-sense approach when handling legal matters, balancing both legal requirements with commercial considerations
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and an ability to manage a variety of stakeholders both on- and off-shore
