Individual Therapist OzChild

JOB DESCRIPTION

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our OzChild family in our Dandenong team.

This role, as an Individual Therapist will be working in a clinical team that consists of a program supervisor, foster carers, family therapist, skills coaches and a teacher. The individual therapist is experienced in working one to one with young people aged 12 – 17, can work independently and remain calm under pressure. The TFCO program is particularly effective for children who may have a history of trauma and/or neglect.

What you will do:

  • Provide one to one support and therapy for children in the program
  • Be available to program youth via phone when needed
  • Behavioural Therapy
  • Fun, creative sessions with young people
  • Working with trauma based behaviours
  • Complete all training in line with TFCO
  • Help young people overcome significant barriers

Who we are looking for:

  • Tertiary Qualification in, Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health, Counselling or Family Therapy
  • Knowledge of and an understanding of family systems and theory
  • Cognitive behavioural and behaviour change therapy application
  • Social learning theory
  • An understanding of cultural contexts and the unique needs of Aboriginal children and young people.
  • Experience working with young people one on one
  • Valid Full Australian Driving Licence (essential)
