We are looking for an inspirational and energetic Counselling Academic-Practising Counsellor.

Level C Counselling Lecturer will contribute to the development and delivery of the professional counselling programs with the key areas of achievement being:

  • Learning & Teaching
  • Research & Scholarship
  • Leadership & Service

Key Relationships:

  • ACAP Students
  • Discipline Lead
  • Campus Academic Manager
  • Learning and Teaching Manager
  • Enhanced Delivery Manager
  • Chairs of Discipline
  • Dean

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Independent teaching in lectures and tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, placement units and clinical sessions
  • Initiation and development of course and unit material
  • Marking and assessment
  • Unit and/or course coordination
  • Conducting and supervising scholarly &/or disciplinary research
  • Coordinate and supervise professional placements
  • Mentoring and providing academic advice and supervision to honours &/or postgraduate students
  • Mentoring early-career academic staff
  • Providing academic leadership through planning and development of new curriculum
  • Curating and developing their own teaching resources, methods and approaches
  • Chairing Discipline committees

It is essential the ideal candidate will possess the following selection criteria:

  • Doctorate or Ph.D. in Counselling, Psychotherapy or related discipline.
  • Registration with PACFA/ACA
  • Broad experience teaching in a tertiary institution using mixed modes of delivery
  • Active and consolidated counselling role (e.g. own private practice as counsellor, current or previous employment as counsellor, etc.)
  • Experience with a range of counselling areas of expertise
  • Relevant scholarly expertise and/or industry expertise

It is desirable that the candidate possesses the following selection criteria:

  • Clinical supervisor qualifications
  • Expertise in Children and Young adults
