Intake Administrative Officer – Counselling and Mediation Uniting NSW & ACT

JOB DESCRIPTION

About the Opportunity 

This is a permanent part-time opportunity working 3 – 4 days per week (Wednesday is a must) and will be based at Paramattas Counselling and Mediation program

We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Intake and Administration officer. This is a combined role where you will be the first intake point for families accessing the service, while also providing administrative support to the Counselling and Mediation centre to ensure the smooth delivery of services and clinical programs based in our Parramatta team.

In this role you will be the first contact for individuals and families from diverse backgrounds accessing our services. Therefore, the ability to respond appropriately, both empathetically and with firmness when required is essential. This dual role requires a highly organised individual who can work well independently while responding to the conflicting priorities of the job. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide intake, assessment, screening and referral for Counselling and Mediation clients and referring organisations.
  • Conduct intake interviews with clients via the telephone.
  • Provide clients with information regarding services and fee schedule.
  • Maintain a centralised up to date record of all client details for open cases.
  • Liaise with staff around the coordination of client appointments and maintenance of the centres electronic diary
  • Reception cover will be required one to 2 days a fortnight of reception work.

  • Proven organisational skills and the ability to multi-task with attention to detail, accuracy and deadlines.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Excellent telephone and inter-personal manner.
  • Ability to relate to clients and their families from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
  • Ability to manage individuals in crisis or distress
  • Willingness to work with clients where issues of domestic violence and/or child protection are present.  
  • Demonstrated ability to implement and maintain administration systems
  • Proficient touch-typing skills
