Carers NSW is the peak organisation for carers in NSW. We are a not-for-profit organisation connecting and empowering carers across NSW and improving their quality of life through activities, programs, training and policy advice. We advocate for carers of all ages and circumstances.

As the Carer Gateway Service Provider (CGSP) in Region 4 of NSW (Central Coast, Hunter New England and North Coast) we have a part time opportunity for a Carer Intake and Assessment Officer based in our Coffs Harbour office.   

As the Carer Intake and Assessment Officer, you will be responsible for supporting carers through the Carer Support Planning Process including an intake, registration and needs assessment, support planning, coordination, support and mentoring to ensure carers can be holistically supported by understanding their needs and appropriately referring them for supports.

 This position will be required to demonstrate a high level of experience in telephone support work.

This is a fixed term part time position offering 30 hours per week till June 2024.

 Our ideal candidate should possess the following skills and attributes:

 ·      Qualification in Social Work or related discipline

·      Understanding of intake, assessment and referral processes provided as part of a telephone information, support and planning process

·      Demonstrated experience in service delivery and telephone support work

·      Knowledge of the community care and health systems and other programs relevant to carers

·      Highly developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with people from diverse backgrounds

·      Strong understanding of Mandatory reporting and privacy requirements

·      Strong computer, administration and organisational skills.

Salary and Benefits
