About Us
Established in 2006, Boorndawan Willam Aboriginal Healing Service (BWAHS) provides a range of services and programs to Aboriginal individuals and families who have been impacted by family violence.
As a result of this, BWAHS works with the whole of the family and kinship group to deliver a range of services, including; case management, case support, therapeutic group work, counselling and AOD interventions.

About the Role
Working from our Bayswater site or meeting community members in one of our other sites or in a community setting, the Intake and Assessment Officer will manage referrals into our clinical, therapeutic and case management programs. You will undertake the initial assessment, develop care plans for the person or family and participate in the allocation processes of the community members into our programs.
About You
This role is well-suited to candidates who have experience working as an Aboriginal Health Worker or who possess tertiary qualifications in Social Services (or similar).
The successful applicant will have the ability to think holistically about the needs of the community member and draw from a well-developed understanding of the referral and support options available.
You will have well-developed assessment and communication skills and be able to engage members of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and their families.
Most importantly, you will have a warm and engaging demeanour that makes clients feel comfortable and listened to. You should have an awareness of and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and have the ability to conduct culturally sensitive assessments when necessary.
