When a child is diagnosed with cancer, it affects the whole family. In the daunting and unpredictable experience that follows diagnosis, a child needs as much stability and support from their family as possible. Redkite is a lifeline for families, providing real emotional, financial and practical support. Because holding it together when your child’s life is in question can feel impossible.

 

The role: 

The Intake and Connection Officer is an integral member of the Service Delivery team. The primary purpose of this role is:

  • to cover intake rosters and provide brief emotional support, referral pathways & information to clients, health professionals and other stakeholders.
  • to act as an initial contact, assessment and coordination service for incoming referrals
  • to provide information and effective referral support to clients, health professionals and other support agencies. 

This role is key to enabling the efficient delivery of psychosocial support and therapeutic counselling services to children with a diagnosis of cancer, their families, partners and support networks.

 

About you:

The position is ideal for someone who has a Certificate IV in Community Services or equivalent/ and relevant experience in a community and/ or healthcare environment. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the following skills & experience:

  • Significant experience in prioritising tasks to deliver programs or services in an efficient, timely manner within budget guidelines
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining relationships with both internal and external partners, clients and key stakeholders
  • Experience in delivering support to clients via phone or email
  • Sound organisational skills with proven ability to work autonomously as well as effectively as a member of a high performing team
  • The ability to plan and prioritise workload to ensure that deadlines are met
  • Comprehensive computer literacy knowledge in Microsoft Office based computing applications e.g., Microsoft Office, spreadsheet and database applications as well as experience using client information management systems
