Intake and Engagement Clinician – Hospital Outreach Post-Suicidal Engagement Mildura Base Public Hospital

JOB DESCRIPTION

About the Organisation

Mildura Base Public Hospital (MBPH) was established as a new entity in September 2020. MBPH is a leading healthcare provider in the north west of Victoria, known for its high level of professionalism, quality care and community engagement.

MBPH provides a range of acute services in emergency, maternity, intensive care, rehabilitation, community services, psychiatric in and out patient care, palliative care, renal dialysis and chemotherapy service to the people of North West Victoria.

About the Role

The MBPH Mental Health Services (MHS) Hospital Outreach Post-Suicidal Engagement (HOPE) Program is part of the Victorian State Government’s Plan to halve the suicide rate by 2025. Staffed by a multidisciplinary team of Clinicians & Wellbeing Workers, the HOPE Program provides assertive; community-based; integrated; clinical & psychosocial aftercare to people experiencing suicidality.  Upon referral to HOPE, the Intake & Engagement Clinician works collaboratively with the consumer to complete the Systematic Tailored Assessment for Responding to Suicide (STARS) Protocol; a person-centred needs-based tool which prioritises factors contributing to the individual’s own experience of suicidality.  Findings from the STARS Protocol will inform the consumers treatment and support plan which will be facilitated over the ensuing 12-week episode of care.  In order to provide evidence-based, best-practice suicide aftercare, the Intake & Engagement Clinician will be afforded a range of professional development opportunities which provides a theoretical and practical framework to Mildura HOPE Program’s model of care.

The position is full-time, rostered Monday to Friday.

To be successful in this role, you will be a qualified Registered Nurse, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist or Psychologist and hold a current registration and/or accreditation with the appropriate body.  You will also have extensive experience in a clinical mental health setting along with demonstrated experience & skill in the direct clinical care (assessment, care planning & treatment intervention); and case coordination of consumers experiencing suicidality (attempt and ideation).

Candidates must meet the necessary key selection criteria outlined in the position description.
