INTAKE / AOD SUPPORT WORKER FULLTIME

An exciting opportunity exists to become part of a small dynamic team of women within a larger organisation. As part of We Help Ourselves, WHOS New Beginnings is an AOD residential service for women, located within the beautiful grounds of Broughton Hall, Lilyfield. We require a motivated and enthusiastic woman to fill this fulltime Intake / AOD Support Worker position.
Being a woman is a genuine occupational qualification under section 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).
Reporting to the Service Manager, the Intake Worker’s duties include:
- Coordinating the assessment and admission process for the service, including responding to enquiries, conducting phone assessments, facilitating admissions, and welcoming women to the program.
- Provide ongoing phone support for clients during pre-admission process.
- Working with a multidisciplinary team of health professionals across WHOS.
- Liaising with family members, health care professionals and other support services.
Essential selection criteria:
- Minimum Certificate IV in AOD/Community Services or related discipline.
- Demonstrated knowledge or experience working with complex clients.
- Passionate about helping women with AOD dependence issues get the assistance they need.
- Experience in providing AOD assessments and managing waitlists.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated planning and organisation skills.
- Competent computer skills especially with MS Word and Excel.
- Have a current (or willing to obtain) First Aid Certificate, Criminal Record Check and Covid-19 Vaccination Certificate.
- Current Drivers Licence.
- Up to date with COVID-19 Vaccinations and able to provide acceptable proof of vaccination status.
Desirable:
- Knowledge and understanding of the Therapeutic Community model and/or residential AOD services.
- Experience liaising with internal/external stakeholders such as medical detox unit, referral agencies and nurses.
- Knowledge and understanding of harm minimisation strategies.
Hours & Remuneration:
- This is a fulltime role, 38 hours per week.
- Salary negotiated based on qualifications and experience equivalent to the SCHADSI Award.
