JOB DESCRIPTION

About the role

The Intake Clinician will provide clinical support and direct service provision across Family Services Australia’s psychology programs. 

In this role, you will conduct clinical intake assessments, brief waiting list interventions, and brief case management to consumers accessing our services. You will be an essential figure in the consumer journey and provide a central point of contact for referral pathways within and external to our service. 

Key accountabilities include:

  • Intake assessment duties and associated brief solution focused supports of consumers , include risk assessment and safety planning where required
  • Management of program referral lists in collaboration with administrative and management teams 
  • Providing clinical input to complex cases and ensuring adequate referral pathways are accessible to consumers
  • Providing ‘warm handover’ experiences to all consumers 

Essential Criteria:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Counselling or another relevant human services field, including professional registration where relevant;
  • Experience in undertaking comprehensive mental health assessments and capacity to formulate consumer needs effectively and efficiently;
  • Capacity to work autonomously and demonstrate initiative in developing processes to increase work efficiency as needed;
  • Excellent knowledge of trauma informed principles of care, and an understanding of risk assessment principles and/or models;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and capacity to work alongside a multidisciplinary care team;
  • Demonstrated capacity to effectively manage competing demands and prioritise workload to ensure best practice care;
  • Current Working with Children Check number and valid Police Check; and
  • Current unrestricted Driver’s Licence;

Desirable Criteria:

  • Current AHPRA registration as an Aboriginal health worker, psychologist or provisionally registered psychologist, mental health nurse or occupational therapist, or accreditation with the AASW as a mental health social worker;
  • Experience providing services via Telehealth
