About CatholicCare NT and the Program 

CatholicCare NT is a Catholic social service agency established in the Diocese of Darwin. We provide services throughout the NT, including service centres in Darwin, Palmerston, Malak, Tiwi Islands, Daly River, Wadeye, Jabiru, Maningrida, Katherine, Tennant Creek, Alice Springs, Santa Teresa, Titjikala, Finke and APY lands.

The purpose of the CatholicCare NT (CCNT) Intake Worker is to support efficient, responsive and integrated access to the Berrimah, Palmerston and Malak programs and services.

 

About the role

The Intake Worker is responsible for the triage, tracking and allocation of referrals and for providing timely responses to external stakeholders and participants referred to CCNT in the Darwin Region, including supporting referrals in remote CCNT offices in the Top End. Working collaboratively with internal program staff to ensure seamless service responses for participants, families, and carers.

The position utilises skills and knowledge to provide a positive first point of service engagement with stakeholders and participants. This includes the provision of brief interventions and wait list support.

The Intake Worker will possess a comprehensive understanding of all of the programs and participant operational and quality systems provided by CCNT.

 

What we are looking for 

  • Relevant qualifications in Psychology, Social Work or Welfare Studies with substantial experience in a similar role is highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated experience in intake in a social service environment
  • Demonstrated experience in the provision of providing brief therapeutic interventions
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, warm, engaging, sensitive to where the client is at and appropriate responsiveness
  • Knowledge of the sector and ability to collaborate with other services
  • Adaptable to change and ability to conduct intake via phone and zoom if required
