Malvern Private Hospital is one of Australia’s leading addiction facilities, with a strong track record of positive client outcomes. We are a 34 bed Addiction and Recovery Centre, operating under the abstinence-based model of care, utilising tools, and practices from the Minnesota Model. About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated clinician, seeking a role to work in an innovative residential program. The successful applicant will be an engaged and pro-active thinker who brings unique abilities to work within a strong multi-disciplinary team connecting psychiatry, addiction, and medicine to deliver a diverse, safe and therapeutic program. The goal from enquiry to discharge is Abstinence Based recovery within a 12-Step network for support and guidance.
The Intake Officer is a key member of our administration and clinical teams, managing every enquiry via phone or email and supporting that enquiry to assessment and a treatment plan. The intake team work closely with administration, nursing, and medical staff to ensure the safest path for each individual. The ability to juggle and support the patient, families, practitioners, and friends from enquiry, within clear KPI’s for efficient processing and maintenance of the hospital occupancy.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Clear experience and training to manage both mental health and AOD clients.
- Tertiary qualification in nursing, allied health or therapy, with experience in AOD or mental health.
- Skills and experience that shows respect, understanding and leadership both with client interactions and teamwork.
- Experience having worked with traumatised, or substance affected individuals, to process efficient screening and assessment efficiently and safely.
- Able to juggle the confidentiality of person enquiring and individual seeking treatment to effectively coordinate their admission.
- Able to work to and meet clear Key Performance Indictors
- Knowledge of private Insurance and funding models, through experience in private healthcare.
- Demonstrate strong communication and written skills for documentation or report writing.
- Computer literacy including understanding of MS Office suite and client management systems.
- Awareness of evidence -based treatments such as harm minimisation, care coordination and support strategies and plans.
- Ability to work collaboratively with both internal and external professionals.
- Knowledge and commitment to ongoing development and awareness in principles involving WHS, EEO and continuous quality improvement.
