JOB DESCRIPTION

The Role

Applications are now invited for the role of Intake Practitioner.  This role involves the provision of screening services, information and advice to separated couples/parents, their families and other professionals and agencies with the majority of the service being provided by telephone from our centralised intake office located in Cheltenham.  Specifically, the position holder will:

  • Receive and respond to general inquiries and referrals by telephone
  • Receive referrals into Better Place Australia
  • Undertake initial screening assessment to determine need and service pathway
  • Provide information, advice and referral to those requiring counselling or dispute resolution
  • Assist with the determination of the priority of response. 

Required Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for appointment, prospective candidates must possess a minimum of a Certificate IV or Diploma in Welfare, Community Services or other related discipline together with a commitment to learning, and an interest in Family Support Programs, Family Law and Family & Children’s Services program streams.  A demonstrated ability to gather screening and assessment data in order to determine access to services is essential as are strong administration skills.  Other essential criteria include excellent communication and interpersonal skills; the ability to engage and build rapport with people in crisis; well-developed organisation and time management skills and a strong customer service orientation. 

Candidates will be required to demonstrate computer literacy and proficiency in the use of a CRM system (Penelope). 

This position would appeal to candidates seeking an entry point into the community sector and/or looking to develop their client assessment skills.
