About the Role

In this role, you will play a key part in the team to:

  • Provide a phone-based service, answering queries from carers and other service providers
  • Be the first point of contact for queries over the phone, email and online chat
  • Use a strength-based approach to support unpaid Carers by providing advice, emergency response and service support planning
  • Liaise with service providers, social workers, case coordinators and others stakeholders, to coordinate supports for Carers
  • Work in a close-knit team to share knowledge and collaborate to solve Carer requests
  • Respond to carers in an understanding, calm and professional manner

We are looking for:

  • Recognised qualifications in Social Services, Community Services or equivalent experience (Cert IV and above)
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, make clear and quick decisions and work with clients in distress
  • Effective time management skills and work with a sense of urgency
  • Excellent oral communication skills and the ability to establish rapport with a diverse range of people over the phone
  • Experience working autonomously and within a team
  • Proficiency in information, communication and technology practices
  • The ability to develop expert knowledge of available internal services, partner services and service available through external organisations
  • Experience negotiating with community-based organisations or groups to maximise outcomes for clients would be highly regarded

Before commencing, you will also need to provide:

  • National Police Clearance
  • DHS Working with Children Check
  • Be prepared to undertake Child Safe Environments – Through Their Eyes training
