About the position
The international student mental health peer worker is based within the La Trobe University Student Wellbeing Connect team and is responsible for delivering mental health peer support to international students. Mental health peer support involves someone with lived experience of mental ill health and other life challenges (peer worker) supporting and advocating for someone who is experiencing these challenges. The international student mental health peer worker will use their own lived experience of mental ill health combined with their experience of studying as an international student to support other international students. Peer work is a non-clinical role. Working collaboratively within the Student Wellbeing Connect team and supported by a senior peer worker based at Orygen, the international student mental health peer worker will assist with development of the peer work program and facilitate mental health peer support activities with international students using online, one-on-one or group-based sessions. This role is aligned with the IERF (International Education Resilience Fund) to support International La Trobe University Students in recognition of the stressors reported over the last two years.
